Social Groups
The Farming Life Centre is home to a number of social groups, which are open to farmers, their families and the rural community.
Rural Social Group
The group meets fortnightly on Wednesday afternoons, from 2.30pm-4.30pm. It is a chance for retired and semi-retired members of the farming community to get together in warm and friendly surroundings. We aim to provide a varied programme of speakers, activities and events, as well as a good cup of tea! We also organise an annual summer outing.
“Gets people together of a likeness … everyone’s in the same boat. We share common interests so we have plenty to talk about.”
Rural Craft Group
Meets weekly on Wednesday morning, from 10.00am-noon. Members get together to explore and learn craft techniques in warm and friendly surroundings. Occasional workshops.
“It’s lovely to receive the confidence to “have a go” and be part of a group of like-minded people. It keeps me active in mind and body”
Rural Lunch Club
The lunch club generally meets on the second Wednesday of the month, from 12.00-2.00pm. Members enjoy a freshly prepared hot meal and good farming company.
“I enjoy coming out for a hot meal with friends rather than a frozen meal for one!”
Buxton Young Farmers
The Farming Life Centre is the home of Buxton Young Farmers’ Club, which meets on Tuesdays at 8.00pm. We also host part of the archive from the Derbyshire Young Farmers’ Personal Expressions photography project in our first floor meeting room.
