Future Farms Food Club

A Networking Group for Peak District Food Businesses

Launched in September 2008, the Future Farms Food Club aimed to promote and encourage the use of food grown and produced in the Peak District.

Building on the success of the Hills Alive! project, we want to bring together farmers, producers, retailers and other businesses using local food, in order to promote improved development, availability and use of local food products in Peak District communities and businesses.

Network events were held once a month and were hosted by businesses which already make, use or promote local foods.  Participants were able to learn first-hand about these businesses and their experiences.  Venues included food producers, retailers and users (eg  hotels, tearooms, farm shops, village stores/delicatessans etc).  Each event included an interactive seminar where topics covered encouraged sharing of ideas and development of skills.  Time for networking was built in to each event.

This project was a working partnership between The Farming Life Centre and the Peak District National Park Authority whose projects include the Peak District Environmental Quality Mark and Food from the Peak District.  The project was funded by the Big Lottery Fund’s Local Food scheme.
