Social and Therapeutic Garden
Background
In October 2007 The Farming Life Centre was granted funding by the Derbyshire Local Strategic Partnership (LSP) to develop a site to the rear of the Centre’s premises into a community garden which will form a venue for social and therapeutic activities for the FLC’s existing visitors and new ones, particularly those recovering from mental health problems.
This project complements the Farming Life Centre’s Health Trainer programme and it is anticipated that our Health Champions will be able to signpost clients to the garden as its construction progresses and a workshop programme is put in place, with a view to engaging them in social and creative activities as well as gardening and growing fresh fruit and vegetables.
